The Land-of-the-Ghosts is a large country north of the Icemark It is ruled by the Vampire King and Queen and its population consists mainly of creatures banished from Icemark, such as the Dark Witches and other creatures of the night (ghosts, zombies, rocktrolls etc).
Prior to the series, King Redrought defeated the army of their Vampiric Majesties at the Battle of the Wolfrocks, a mountainous region north of the Icemark. After Icemark's victory, werewolves and Dark Witches were banished.
An alliance was formed between the two nations during The Cry of the Icemark, reversing the unfriendly relationship between the two nations when the newly crowned Queen Thirrin made an embassy to the Blood Palace to ask for help in the coming war against the Polypontian Empire.
